Invited by the Mayor of Telemark, the Minot Area Development Corporation (MADC) traveled to Norway for a trade mission on August 21, 2015 - August 31, 2015. Minot's delegation included representatives from the City of Minot, MADC, Chamber of Commerce, Visit Minot, and the Norsk Hostfest. Minot leaders were excited to reciprocate the strong relationship with our sister-city, Skien and Telemark County. 90% of the trip to Norway was funded by the North Dakota Department of Commerce Partners in Marketing Grant.

Minot's delegation spent the first four days in Oslo, Norway where they had several business meetings:
• Business seminar with the American Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Embassy
• Business meeting with Norwegian Parliamentminotmissionnorway15.jpg

• Business meeting with Yara at their Corporate Headquarters
• Attended the DU Verden Science and Discover Centre and dinner hosted by the Telemark County Council/Midwest USA project

After they pursued business opportunities in Oslo, Minot leaders headed to Telemark County, Norway. Their agenda included:
• The Heroya Industrial Park in Porsgrunn, where they have over 90 businesses with extra capacity
• Business presentations by Telemark University College, Tel-Tek, Innovation Norway, Telemark offshore, IKT Telemark, and Green Business Norway
• Business meeting with Ineos (PE Pellet Production)
• Business meeting with OPD Group (Specializes in Polyethylene Pipelines)
• Guided tour of Klosteroya Business Park
• Business meeting regarding Inland Fisheries Business
• Business meeting with Skien city representatives at the Skien City Hall, hosted by the Vice Mayor of Skien

Norwegian delegation frequently travels to our Magic City and this year's trade mission was essential for Minot to continue to strengthen our partnership with Norway. Since October 2014, the Telemark Trade Office in Minot has served as a local footprint to promote business opportunities, education, and heritage on behalf of Telemark, Norway. The Telemark Trade Office helped facilitate the trip to Norway and established key business meetings for Minot delegation.

The Telemark Trade Office has created great opportunities for Minot along with events such as the Norsk Hostfest and the "Bridging the Atlantic" Business to Business forum. Minot leadership was honored to reciprocate the relationship with Norway in all aspects including business, government, and tourism.
