Every month, we’re excited to recognize those who make our community shine. Join us in celebrating the April Eagle Award winners—individuals who consistently go the extra mile with kindness, professionalism, and pride!

When preparing for a large purchase as part of their home renovations, Sam’s nominator knew that they wanted to work with Sam for his “excellent customer service and knowledge of the product.” From the moment they entered the store, Sam’s nominator was floored by his positive attitude and “genuine willingness to help us buy the product that best met our needs. He listened attentively to our needs and provided expert guidance on selecting the perfect carpet. Sam went above and beyond to answer every question thoroughly, ensuring we felt confident in our choices. He made us feel valued and respected throughout the entire process. Sam’s dedication to excellence and passion for helping others truly sets him apart.”

When they needed to put their baby in daycare for the first time, Joey’s nominator was understandably nervous. However, Joey was there to calm fears and reassure any anxieties. “She made me feel so comfortable and reassured me through the days. We’re incredibly grateful to have gotten to experience her greatness and love for our kids! You can tell she puts her heart into her job!”

When Krislyn’s lab orders hadn’t carried over to the new year from an out-of-town doctor, they found themselves in a frustrating situation. Krislyn was quick to see where the problem was, and rose to the challenge, contacting the doctor’s office and having the necessary paperwork faxed over within the hour. “I was able to have my blood drawn by Krislyn and continue on with my day. Axel’s nominator was at a rough spot in life, living out of a hotel with a small child. “I showed up for assistance with diapers and Axel was so kind and listened to my situation and offered advice to other places to also help me out. Never shamed me or made me feel bad, and went above and beyond for my family- even personally bought us dinner.” Amazing work, Axel!

Over the last couple years, Jacob’s nominator has had some minor issues arise with their apartment and each time Jacob has come to help they’ve been incredibly impressed by his personality and drive to complete the project. They noted that he’s incredibly “friendly and knowledgeable” while also being quick to respond, prompt to arrive, and always kept them in the loop on the project and its timeline. “He has a great personality and I really think he needs to be recognized for jobs well done.”

However, when they and a friend arrived at the Minot International Airport, they were unable to find their bag, despite the airline app updating that the bag had been delivered. JP was able to assist in locating 2 of the 4 bags from the group, all while offering great service with a polite and professional attitude. After confirming their contact information and a description of the bags, JP assured that he would be on the lookout for them, going above and beyond to check that they were still in Minneapolis and assuring that he’d get them back to Minot on the next flight.

She knows every student and cares about their success, constantly checking in to see how their future career and personal goals are coming along. They noted that she’s incredibly attentive to patrons and “always makes us feel like we’re her first priority,” even when she works full time elsewhere. “She always provides the absolute best service, and her customers always feel so happy around her!”

Katherine’s nominator was looking to purchase a jug of water but was having trouble lifting the filled jug back into the cart. Katherine, while on duty as the cashier at the service aisle far away from the water, noticed the struggle and asked if she could help. She was the employee that checked them out, and they noted that she was incredibly “kind and cordial” during the process. After needing to split up the purchase between work and personal cards, her nominator later noticed that their card was missing. The next morning, unable to find the card, they returned to Marketplace Foods to find that it had been turned in. “I am so thankful to Katherine for her honesty and steps to turn the card in. She saved me a lot of work (card cancellation) and deserves to be awarded for her customer service, cordial demeanor, and honesty.”

"My husband was in the hospital for 10 days and just happened to be in the Pediatric overflow area. Andrea had the best bedside manner. She treated him as more than just a patient and showed true compassion for the situation.” Great work, Andrea!
Chanel’s nominator is glad for her consistent positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and kind smile. “I have a challenging 1st grader, and she is with him all day. He has grown so much because of the patience she has with him. Thank you, Miss Chanel, for being amazing every day.”

“A while back I fell on hard times and walked into the church looking for food and help. That’s when I met Mae and let me tell you she was exactly what I needed in that moment. I asked for food, and she handed me a bag of snacks and a water bottle which I was so grateful for. I happened to mention that her food looked good and before I knew it she was handing me her own food! I was like, “Girl are you for real?” and she just smiled and said, “Yes you need it.” I couldn’t believe it. This stranger who didn’t even know me was giving me what she had. I just started crying. Then she came around the counter and gave me the biggest hug. She didn’t care that I hadn’t showered or that my clothes were dirty. She just saw me as a person who needed help, and she gave it without hesitation. We talked and she helped me figure out where to go for more help. She found me rides when I needed them, got me more food, and even helped me reconnect with my family. Mae’s heart is bigger than words can describe. Her kindness, love, and compassion for others seem to have no limit. Anyone who has her in their life is truly blessed. Even when I went to meals on Friday at the church, she just lights up the whole room. She will check in with people and see what they need or how they are. I’m happy to say I’m back on my feet now and though I’m about to leave Minot I’m thankful every single day for the help I received from First Lutheran Church. I even called the other day to check in with Mae and it felt like catching up with an old friend. She’s just that kind of person. So, from the bottom of my heart thank you. Thank you to Mae and thank you to the church for being there when I needed it most.”
